Jewelry Care

Your jewelry was made to last a lifetime or more. However, it needs a little care and consideration on order to live that long. Here are some general guidelines:

 Jewelry with stones:

Remove before bathing, working out, cleaning and swimming. Softer stones, including Turquoise, can darken in color over time. This happens when the stone is exposed to oils and chemicals from lotions, soaps, detergents, pools, etc. Stones are not bullet-proof, and if they are banged around, they can crack…. so don’t bang them around; yes, even diamonds.

Jewelry without stones:

I’ll be honest… I do not take off my rings, bracelets, and necklaces that are made of precious metals (silver and gold) and do not have stones. However, I do recommend removing them before swimming, working out, or working with any detergents or chemicals. While swimming, it is easy to lose jewelry as your skin is slippery and you’re flailing about. Barbells and dumbbells will scratch your jewelry bigtime. Some detergents and chemicals can react with the metal and cause immediate dark patina, or tarnish.

All jewelry:

Every so often, clean your jewelry with a mild, colorless soap and a soft toothbrush. Use a polishing cloth to remove any tarnish that builds up over time. Do not put stones in any sort of jewelry cleaning dips or solutions.

Most importantly, wear and enjoy your jewelry!
